Saturday morning at the Kentucky Spring Classic saw junior hunter riders take center stage in the Stonelea Ring, competing in their respective divisions to earn points ahead of Sunday’s Junior Hunter Grand Champion crowning, presented by Visse Wedell. Competition kicked off with the Large Junior Hunter division led by Kaitlyn Lovingfoss followed by the Small Junior Hunters where Campbell Kahn and Josephine Rose currently sit tied at the top.

Friday morning at the Kentucky Spring Classic opened with the $5,000 1.45m Open Jumpers to kick off jumper competition in the Rolex Stadium, which saw 32 horse-and-rider combinations test over Kelvin Bywater’s (GBR) 13-effort track. Seven pairs produced clear rounds to ride to an immediate 6-obstacle jump-off where Andy Kocher and Eye Candy Jumpers’ Darius De W captured the fastest time of 31.915 seconds to earn the first win of the morning. Following in second was Ryan Genn, with Hardin Towell finishing in third.

Brian Moggre maintains his lead in the 2019 Hagyard Challenge series standings with a total of 320 points after his win in the $36,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic CSI3* at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show and his sixth-place finish in Thursday's $36,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic CSI3*. Athletes next have the opportunity to gain series points Thursday, July 25, at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show with the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic as they look to top the overall standings and earn the $50,000 Leading Rider Award presented during the Kentucky National Horse Show in September.

Thursday evening at the Kentucky Spring Classic was highlighted by the $36,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic CSI3*, the second event in the seven-part series, sponsored by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. Hosted in the Rolex Stadium on a picturesque evening, 62 competitors tried their hand in an attempt to capture the win. Ultimately it was Karl Cook (USA) and Caillou 24 who walked away with the lion’s share of prize money after producing the quickest clean and clear jump-off.

New this year to the Kentucky Horse Park, the Classic Champions Developing Jumper Tour kicked off its second show of the eight-part series Wednesday at the Kentucky Spring Classic with three divisions offered for 5, 6 and 7-year-old horses. An impressive group of up-and-coming young horses tackled the 5-year-old division in the Walnut Ring on Thursday, with ten combinations earning blue-ribbon rides for their clear efforts, but William Hickey emerged with the fastest time of 67.628 seconds aboard North Star's Jeronimo.
